Welcome

ECAN is here to assist people interested in building or altering their property.

ECAN is a network of architectural practices based within the Lothians, Fife and Borders areas. This geographic area is defined by its incorporation with the Edinburgh Architectural Association (EAA), which is itself a Chapter of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland (RIAS). However its members will usually work in many areas of the country or beyond.

Established in 1998, all its members are Sole-Practitioners and so the network provides them with a shared framework for professional back-up and peer review of standards. They meet on a monthly basis to exchange ideas and information of current interest in the design and construction profession. At present it has around 50 members providing a wide array of skills and experience, to suit the requirements of most people needing help with a construction project. ECAN also has close links with other similar networks in Scotland.

ECAN also provides its members with reciprocal arrangements whereby they can call upon the assistance of their colleagues in the event of their incapacity or illness. All Sole-Practitioners are required to have this agreement in place.
